Musicians, writers, painters, sculptors… The fingers of two hands would not be anywhere near enough to count all the artists Mons has produced! They have all found the spark to ignite their imagination in Hainaut’s capital and the surrounding area. Some of them were born here, some came from elsewhere. Some were appreciated in their lifetime, while others faded into oblivion before their talent was recognised. Their names are Verlaine, Van Gogh, Du Broeucq and De Lassus, and they have made Mons a fertile land for artists.
