Comprising the villages of Baisieux, Audregnies and Quiévrain, this is a lovely district with two distinct aspects.
On the one hand, there is the busy centre of Quiévrain, with plenty of restaurants to choose from, serving food prepared with fresh local ingredients, its annual carnival, traditional flower market, and lots of other events throughout the year.
On the other hand there is delightful green countryside, nestling in the Hauts-Pays Nature Park, where visitors can breathe in some fresh air on a walk along one of the many paths and country roads near Baisieux, or relax in Belgium’s largest green square in Audregnies. Or you might prefer to make your way to Quiévrain railway station along the RAVeL long-distance footpath.
The increased awareness among residents and local authorities of the importance of protecting local and rural heritage has led to the restoration and conversion of chapels, barns and historic monuments, including St Theresa’s Chapel, which is currently being renovated.
