Un Nouveau Printemps - Paul Segard
Location of the piece: Passage du Centre, Grand'rue - 7000 Mons
The requests for themes for the rue des capucins were references to the ducasse while putting forward an aspect of joy and positivity. Paul Segard thus chose not to approach the theme of the ducasse head-on and to focus his work on a poetic and resolutely positive message. A child sitting in a flowering tree while talking to a bird. He called this work “A new spring” to reference rebirth and renewal in nature. The capucin district was a place of transition towards a new positive movement. References to the ducasse are indeed present; they are hidden in the details, so much so that the work becomes an invitation to the spectator to dive in to discover them.
