Oeuvre de Dourone
Location of the piece: Boulevard Sainctelette, 76 - 7000 Mons
Fabio Lopez and Elodie Arshak, the two artists behind Dourone, gave us an interpretation of their work:
“ When we received the theme of solidarity in the city, it was important for us to meet local stakeholders to create a work of art that fitted. We were pleasantly surprised by the warm welcome and the history of the Ducasse de Mons.
We consider the Doudou to perfectly represent this intergenerational solidarity in Mons, where all residents are involved.
Moreover, the fact that UNESCO recognises it as one of the masterpieces of the oral and intangible heritage of humanity has reinforced our belief in this idea! Because first and foremost our work is based on people.”
