Pierre Liebaert, a young photographer from Mons, has an exceptional way of capturing an instant and delivering it back to us. A young photographer from Mons, he graduated from the ‘Ecole Supérieure des Arts de l'image’ “Le 75” in Brussels, and he regularly exhibits during festivals or within the museum network. One of his series, entitled “Macquenoise” was noticed by the American website Photo-eye as one of the 26 best works of the year 2013. In 2015, in Mons, he participated in the photographic mission IN/ OUT and took photos of Patti Smith during her visit to the Verlaine Cellule 252 exhibition, at the BAM. His projects are immersive and run in the long term. He tries to discover the depths of each project and to lay it bare.

His new projects take him to the magmatic entrails of Naples, in the heart of the obscurity of monasteries and among the carnival-like creatures nestled in the mountains. His interest is piqued where tragedy is bathed in light. The fantasy song of castratos, the embodiment of the works of Caravage, the intransigence of the Flemish Primitives, the universality of Carnival figures, the humid perfume of worm-ridden wood, the solemnity of processions and the vulnerability of our organs are all fragments that he constantly wishes to put together.
