Il minatore della miniera di carbone Du Levant de Flénu / Michail Nicolaï
Location of the piece: Avenue du Champs de Bataille 476 - 7012 Flénu
Michail Nicolaï, a native of Liège, is a self-taught muralist who has always had a keen interest in the world of coal mining. Italian in origin, the link to this world is very personal to him. He inherited it from his grandfather who, when he was a child, used to tell him stories about the mines with his friends.
Like a Proustian madeleine, his works on coal mining invariably take him back to his childhood and each one demonstrates a great sense of pride for these workers.
