Hommage à Ambroise Paré - Portrait du Père de la chirurgie / Samuel Idmtal
Location of the piece: Rue Irma Fiévez - 7021 Havré
The artist gave us his interpretation of the piece: Through this fresco, Samuel Idmtal, stencilist, pays tribute to Ambroise Paré. Considered the father of surgery, he invented numerous instruments that helped to develop a new cauterisation technique and stayed at the Château d’Havré for two months during the winter of 1569-1570. From one cut to the next, the artist entirely stencilled his portrait, trying to maintain the spirit and poise of the drawings of the time. He also wished to collaborate with Kunlo, an artist who was originally from Brussels but had a special link with Mons, having worked there for many years.
