The Paris-born French artist Lucy Lucy immigrated to Australia in 2006. Currently based in Melbourne, she has successfully carved out a place for herself in the Australian urban art community. Lucy Lucy is a figurative painter whose works capture the evolution of feminine folklore, exploring energy through archetypal portraits of women that symbolise social change, resilience and reconciliation. She has devoted a significant part of her creative career to various collaborations, starting with the AWOL crew in 2006. Over the years, this path has taken Lucy Lucy's practice into performance art, photography and fashion design, anchoring her work in multiculturalism.

In this work, Lucy Lucy pays tribute to the African diaspora, a community with a strong presence in Mons. And in keeping with her theme, Lucy Lucy examines the importance of the mother in African culture.
