Le Jardin suspendu

Historic site and monument ,  Heritage buildings ,  Park and garden in Mons
  • A little well-hidden park in the city of Mons! Very wild, upkept well, an incomparable place where you can relax and enjoy yourself. It nestles above the former military bakery, on Rue de la Boulangerie. After being closed for a long time due to vandalism, it re-opened for the Mons 2015 European Capital of Culture series of events. A little well-hidden park in the city of Mons! Very wild, upkept well, an incomparable place where you can relax and enjoy yourself. It nestles above the former military bakery, on Rue de la Boulangerie. After being closed for a long time due to vandalism, it re-opened for the Mons 2015 European Capital of Culture series of events. An international non-profit organisation carries out large-scale work there, building facilities from wood, a covered playground, a kitchen, a shower and toilets. This enable the general public to walk around it, to sit down in it, and to go into the woods there, which are really a little forest. A really small hen-house, pieces of land where vegetables are grown, huts and a tunnel in the form of a tree trunk on the ground add to the pleasure. Large trees provide shade from the Sun in this marvellous park, creating a an ideal place for children to play in and a peaceful place for picnics. An ASBL (non-profit organisation) – made up of Mons citizens who live near the park and who love the place – was set up in order to enable, put in place and encourage all kinds of fun, cultural and other activities there. All nature-lovers and anybody who likes to unwind with their families are welcome in Les Jardins Suspendus. Open every Sunday from 11am to 6pm from late March to mid-October.
