Whether you like sweet or savoury dishes, whether you’re a child, a teenager, an adult, a man or a woman, everyone is welcome at the food workshops in Quiévrain! The only golden rule to gain entry is that you have to love getting your hands dirty. Sounds like you? Welcome on board, then.

Several workshops, one central theme

There’s no shortage of choice here. From subject-specific workshops to workshops on demand, the choice is yours. All you have to do is stick to local cooking, the guiding principle of this culinary exploration.

For instance, if you have a sweet tooth, you can try your hand at making Brussels waffles, cramique (Belgian raisin bread) and speculoos among other things. If you have a savoury tooth, you can cook shrimp croquettes and waterzooi (a Belgian stew). We can’t wait to see the results – how about you? As said before, if you want to learn how to make a particular dish (e.g. macaroons, tarts or fresh pasta etc.), just ask.

A chef will support you throughout this culinary journey and as a reward, you can naturally enjoy the fruits of your labour.

The duration of the workshop obviously depends on the dish being made but beware that at least six people are required per group (with up to 12 people allowed), and that children can also join in the activity (costing €25/child and €35/adult). Friendly atmosphere guaranteed!

Cake design workshop

Have you always dreamed of designing a cake? Come and learn the basic techniques and the quilted effect! Workshop for beginners. Price €100 all inclusive (materials, apron and cake).

Ready to get started? First of all, you’ll have to be patient and have a steady hand to cover your cake with sugar dough. First step a success? Now for the decoration. Depending on the workshop theme, you’ll have a crash course in creating decorations. Is it still going well? Are you mastering the technique? Now is the time to show off your originality by decorating your cake in your own way using the cookie cutters provided.

To take part in this cake design workshop:

Go to the food workshops in Quiévrain on a Saturday or a Sunday, from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. Drinks and a bite to eat (otherwise we might eat our own creations) will be provided.

A special time for sharing, new discoveries and perhaps meeting new people...

Birthday workshop

Is it your little cherub’s birthday and do you want them to have an original party that they won’t forget? Again, go to the food workshops in Quiévrain!

Whatever sets your child’s heart on fire, it’s their special day and all their wishes will be granted. They’ll make desserts with their pals (laughs guaranteed) and together they’ll enjoy the birthday-themed activities on offer. Whosever special day it is will also eat like a king (with cupcakes, sweets galore and special decorations for the occasion) and have a cake fit for a king (a true cake design worthy of a piece of art).

You too can enjoy the celebrations since you won’t have to worry about a thing. As well as sweets and cake, drinks are also provided and as for clearing up and doing the dishes, you won’t have to lift a finger. All that you’re asked to do is pay an entry fee of €15 per child (all inclusive).

There’ll be some surprises there, so don’t forget your camera.

Want more?

In each school holiday, themed cooking courses (Italian cuisine, American cooking and carnival food etc.) are put on for your children (aged 5 to 12). Now that’s something to keep their little hands busy while having fun. What’s more, it’ll also be a chance to make new friends and discover some unique flavours – a real treat. So, no more excuses to be bored!
