To celebrate the centenary of surrealism, the CAP/Fine Arts Museum of Mons is dedicating a new exhibition to the artistic movement. Its brand new approach examines the disturbing object and its impact on society. Presented both chronologically and thematically, the exhibition “Surrealism: turning reality upside down” tells the story of the object (the three-dimensional object, but also the object in poetry, painting, photography, collage and film) in the surrealism of the 1920s and 30s. It then contrasts the surrealist object with newer movements that placed the object at the centre of the artistic scene from the 1960s onwards.
