In March 1879, Vincent van Gogh mentioned for the first time the house located at 81, rue du Petit Wasmes, now rue Wilson in Colfontaine. The house belonged to a baker named Jean-Baptiste Denis and played a key role in the artist’s life. The site is not a museum; there are no paintings or drawings by the artist, but a few scenographic elements and excerpts from letters Vincent wrote to his brother Theo. As an ideal starting point for walks, you can pick up a guide on-site providing information about various walks departing from the house. Since its renovation, the House Van Gogh now complements the "Van Gogh Europe" circuit, which includes all the places where the painter lived. In the Van Gogh shop, you will find: books, postcards, artisanal products (such as the beer "La nuit étoilée")... Open every day except on Mondays from 10am to 4pm by prior reservation
