In 2005, a young Belgian from Burundi, Christian NIYONGABO, was passionate about beer; a passion that results from the legacy acquired from the Kingdom of Beer. The adventure first began when Christian was on holiday in Burundi, enjoying a beer with his friends, when he was stopped by an elderly lady. She made a peculiar remark that quickly caught the attention of Christian: “Mpa agafuro basha nimotereze,” she said in Kirundi dialect. The lady simply wanted to say that her glass should be more foamy to appease its smell. Touched by this remark, he left Burundi with the idea of developing a beer with a remarkable taste and smell, which would be accessible to all. He then returned to Belgium, the country of beer, to continue his studies in order to obtain a master's degree in chemistry. After his studies, he had not forgotten the remark of the elderly lady, which still resonated in his mind. He spoke about it with his brother, Jonathan, during a family reunion, and they decided to tackle the task together. After a few months of successful testing and brewing in a kitchen, Christian finally produced his first beer with a more appeasing taste, composed of exotic fruit aromas. His younger brother Jonathan decided to name it "Elforto" to emphasise its very pronounced taste. In 2017 their craft brewery was born and was named Nini Brewery. Since April 2017, Elforto has been commercialised. Premium Belgian beer, brewed by Nini Brewery.
