The folkloric Ducasse of Messines is an ode in the spring and a vast flower market, witness of a centuries-old tradition. It all began in the early 17th century, when a picture was placed in a chapel. These first steps of the Ducasse quickly became popular and in the 19th century, small folk objects appeared: gayoles, wawas, nightingales, saudarts, etc.
The folkloric Ducasse de Messines, as it is known today, was born! In 1992, a couple of giants, Batisse and Lalie accompanied by their son Biloute, added to the charms of the festivities and, in 2006, Trinette, the sister of Biloute, was born.
Today the event is a great success and is recognised as a Masterpiece of the Oral and Immaterial Heritage of the French Community.
