In December, there’s a friendly atmosphere in the shopping districts, thanks to the various different activities put in place:
- “La plus belle vitrine de Noël” (the most beautiful Christmas shop window display) competition in partnership with the town centre’s shopkeepers
In order to spread the Christmas spirit through the shopping streets, a competition for the most beautiful Christmas shop window display is being organised from 3 to 24 December. Visitors are invited to vote for the most beautiful shop window display and to deposit their entry form in one of the ballot boxes distributed in the shopping areas. Blank entry forms are available from “visitMons” (Grand’Place, 27), in the chalet de la solidarité (solidarity chalet) at the Gestion Centre Ville Mons (block) and in the shops in the city centre.
- Free strolling activities
Organised every weekend until 18 December from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, these are aimed at all audiences and all ages, including street shows, mascot troupes, Father and Mother Christmas in horse-drawn carriages, stilt walkers, festive brass bands, etc.
Nutcrackers, reindeer, etc., not forgetting the hundreds of natural Christmas trees in place near the shops.
- Special opening of shops on Sundays 11 and 18 December
To do your end-of-year shopping the relaxed way, the city centre shops are, exceptionally, open on Sundays 11 and 18 December 2022.
