It is with great pleasure that your hosts welcome you onto their crop-oriented farm. It is located on the edge of a small rural village, 7km (4¼ miles) from the city of Mons and 8km (5 miles) from the municipality of Binche. Its name comes, firstly, from the "La Barrière" townland where, it is said, that when stage-coaches were still in wide use, there was a barrier where people had to pay a toll to go from one municipality to another. Secondly, "Alezane" (chestnut) comes from the colour of their horses, which are of the Haflinger breed. The family has been passionate about this breed of horses for many years. Every year the family members go to Austria, where the breed comes from, in order to get up to date about developments and to meet other enthusiasts. It was because they stay with locals in small Austrian villages during their trips that they got the idea of having guestrooms. The rooms are equipped with a bathroom with a shower, a toilet and a hairdryer. A refrigerator is at your disposal and so is a complimentary platter.
