Jacques Du Broeucq
At once an all-round, avant-garde and reformist artist, Jacques Du Broeucq is now an integral part of the history of the Collegiate Church of St Waltrude. Alternately admired, coveted, praised and forgotten, he is finally being given due recognition. The city of Mons and in particular its collegiate church have some masterpieces to thank him for.
Biography
Often compared to Michelangelo, this master craftsman was particularly sought after by the great figures of his time.

Sculptures and bas-reliefs by Du Broeucq preside over the Collegiate in various places.

A major work by Jacques Du Broeucq, it was built in the sixteenth century at the request of the canonesses of St Waltrude.
